Silence & Prayer
Silence & Prayer

When we pray, most often we are talking to God about all the things we need or want. We ask for help, for guidance, for support. We ask God to do something for us or for a loved one, or for the world.
And God wants us to do that. God wants us to talk to Him in prayer.
But God also wants us to LISTEN to Him. This is the part we tend to forget! We talk but we forget to listen. Pray to God, but then don’t forget to listen to Him. The reason you may not have received an answer to your prayers could be you are not listening for the answer.
We expect action on God’s part. We expect change. We expect something. But maybe God is expecting something from us. If we are not listening to Him, we will never know what that is.
Talk to God.
Then listen to God.
In that silence, He will speak to you. You will hear Him. It may not be in an audible voice, but it might be thoughts that come into your head…things God is prompting you to think about or do. Thoughts you would have dismissed if you didn’t spend time listening.
Search your heart, and be silent for a minute.
Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.
Psalm 4:4
