Series midpoint + this week's devotion

Hi Church!

We are in the middle of a series called New Beginnings.  Last week we talked about Moses.  He experienced many new beginnings but the biggest one was when he was 80 years old!  But God had been grooming him this entire time so that he could rise up and be the leader God knew he could be.  That is the power of a new beginning.

This week we will be looking at Matthew who radically changed after his encounter with Jesus - a great lesson for us all.

As we look forward, I strongly encourage you to attend the Charge Conference on October 12th from 6-7pm.  Perry Hines will be here who is our Presiding Elder.  It is also an opportunity for you to hear the vision I am planning for the coming year.  We would all love to see this church grow into the church we know it can be - just as Moses grew into the leader God knew he could be. But just like Moses, that takes time.  Until that time, those of us that call Christ Church Gastonia home, we will continue to worship our Lord together!

Devotion for this week:

Everyone is on a path to where life takes them.  Sometimes it is a career we love and maybe add in marriage and kids.  Sometimes it's being a fur parent instead and doing life solo.  Along the way we will meet many people.  Some of those people will turn into friends, and some maybe not!

But on this path we will have options - forks in the road, decisions to be made.  How do we make those choices?  How do we decide God’s path for us?  How do we make sure we are on the
right path?

Proverbs 3:6 tells us:
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

When we acknowledge God’s influence in our lives, when we spend time praying, spend time in His Word, spend time at church with the body of Christ - then we will know we are on the right path!

Blessings,

Pastor Marcy
