Lots to Do and It Coming Fast!

The To Do List is Full Up!

The newsletter article will be short this week, and the newsletter itself may be a bit different.  Matt Smith was a gift to us, one that had an expiration date.  I am grateful for all he did for us in the role of administrative assistant.  He expanded the job and updated a lot of our communications channels.  We are working on hiring a person to fill the role, but it will take some time.  I am publishing the newsletter this week in a short time frame using systems that I am not familiar with.  I beg your forgiveness if things are not up to the usual standards.

Easter is fast approaching, and I am working on the special worship services for Holy Week along with everything else; we are working on preparing to have the crawl space at the parsonage encapsulated the week after Easter.  We are working on that time frame because the house needs to be vacated due to off-gassing chemical fumes due to the insulation and fungicides needed to treat the area.  My family will be visiting out-of-town relatives during that time frame while Sharon’s school is on Spring break.  This will take care of moisture issues and mold growth beneath the parsonage and improve the utility consumption and air quality in the house.  Thank you all for your generous support of this project.

This also means that in the next two weeks, I will be removing the flooring and subfloor in the dining room, where we have a sagging joist, most likely from rotting wood.  This area is very close to the dirt of the crawl space and needs to be open for the encapsulation.  So we are adding that to preparations for Easter.  This Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16, we will be packing up the contents of the craft room and dining room and starting the demolition of the floor.  Then, if time allows, we will start the repair of the joist system in these rooms over the next week.  If you want to volunteer to help, you can show up on Friday morning at about 9 am. Work will continue till around 3 pm, the same on Saturday morning.  We will figure out next week's schedule after we see how much we get done on Saturday.   Gloves are recommended.  I should have the other tools needed.

Peace and Thank You!

Brothers and sisters in Christ (at Christ), I cannot begin to tell you how much I feel, see, and hear the love of Jesus Christ in this congregation.

So, in a world that is changing and amid our changing perspective, what is constant?

There is an order to what God does, and He orders the world and our lives and even time.

Ash Wednesday invites us to be marked with signs of our mortality and to acknowledge our fragile and transitory nature. It is a time to pause, to put to words our confession of rebellion against God’s will, and to be penitent before Him. Browns, grays, and black make the color palette for this holiday, and the attire, sackcloth and ashes.

So yes, the church is full of hypocrites, just as Alcoholics Anonymous is full of Alcoholics.

We need God’s help to change our nature and His mercy and grace to forgive our sins. This requires confession. Confession is a foundational piece of our faith and practice as followers of Christ Jesus.

.....we have dead, broken parts of our lives (sin), especially when we first come to Christ. These dead, broken pieces are in a heap and need to be cleared out.

God has called each of us and has prepared us for His purposes. Some purposes are unique or not shared by all believers, but some are held in common.
