Drifting Protector

A ministry of the Holy Spirit

A few years ago I finally traded my old beat up Honda for a newer one. It had about 200,000 miles on it...yes for a Honda that isn’t too bad...but it smelled like the years of sports cargo that had rested in it. Dents, dints, and dirt. It was time for an upgrade.

This newer car had all these fancy things on it that I didn’t have before. Mostly because technology had increased so much in the years since I bought my old car. One of the features on the new one was this thing called a “drifting protector.” When the car thinks you are drifting out of your lane, it will pull you back in. It won’t do it if you have your turn signal on, because then it knows you are making a deliberate lane change.  It will only do it if it thinks you are drifting out of your lane without a good reason.

In life, we call that the Holy Spirit! The Spirit’s job is partly to pull you back in when you start drifting. When your married eyes start roaming, the Spirit will remind you of your vows. When you're single and dating, the Spirit will remind you that God intended sex for marriage. When you are jealous, the Spirit will remind you of your worth and value. When you are angry, the Spirit will remind you to not sin in your anger. When you are drifting….the Spirit is there to pull you back.

The Spirit is our drifting protector!
