Introduction
Spend a little time at Christ UMC and you’ll learn two things about us — we’re committed to ministry and we have an overflowing heart of love for children. With those as our legacy, it’s not surprising that our first expression of ministry was childcare.
It started with Mother’s Morning Out and an afternoon program, filling a niche that the community told us needed filling. As the years went by other needs were recognized and the ministry grew to include Infants and Toddlers and Preschool age groups, referred to now as the Weekday School.
Finally, our After School Care and Summer Camp components were added to serve the needs of older children in this burgeoning section of our county. Today, Children’s Center activities are a vital and fully integrated part of life at Christ UMC. The level of professionalism, training, close supervision and Christian commitment is truly unmatched in the community.
Staff
Our staff members are CPR and First Aid trained and certified. Background checks are required on all employees. A program of continuing education is provided by the United Methodist Conference. This educational opportunity helps keep our staff aware of the ever-changing needs of today’s families and also provides new ideas and resources to be used in the classroom.
Weekday School
We have a 4 hour school day. A mid-morning snack is provided for your child. Each class has circle time which consists of: reviewing the alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes, days of the week, months of the year, calendar time and a short story. After circle time the children have center play and a craft. Parents send lunch daily in a lunchbox and the children sit down at this time and end enjoy their lunch together. The children finish their day with outside play if weather permits.
Program is offered 3 or 5 days a week.
